Soma Energy, a strategic subsidiary of Soma Group established in 2012, has been driving to advancing clean and sustainable energy solutions. In 2013, the company completed a Biogas Power Plant for Battambang Agro Industry (BAI). Building on this renewable energy sector, Soma Energy obtained licenses from the Ministry of Mine and Energy (MME) and the Electricity Authority of Cambodia (EAC) to operate a Biomass Power Plant in 2014 and 5 MW Solar Power Plant in 2016 in Staung, Kampong Thom. By 2019, Soma Energy had commenced the development of Solar Power Plant, which ultimately began supplying electricity to the national grid, further reinforcing its commitment to sustainable energy development. Beyond renewable energy, Soma Energy provides the power solutions such as backup power generators, MV power supplies and engineering, and solar system for commercial and industrial use, supporting Cambodia’s shift to sustainable energy.
