Position Summary

The Assistant Chief Engineer will work closely with the Chief Engineer to establish the Engineering Department and ensure the safe and reliable operation of the hotel's building systems and facilities. The role will support testing, commissioning, handover, defect rectification, preventive maintenance planning, team readiness and statutory compliance throughout pre-opening and hotel operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the testing, commissioning, inspection and handover of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, fire life-safety, vertical-transportation and building-management systems.
• Coordinate with project teams, consultants, contractors and suppliers to track defects, verify rectification and complete engineering requirements within the pre-opening timeline.
• Assist in establishing preventive-maintenance programmes, engineering SOPs, equipment registers, utility records, emergency procedures and maintenance-reporting systems.
• Supervise daily engineering activities, work orders, plant-room inspections and maintenance tasks to ensure safe, reliable and efficient hotel operations.
• Support the recruitment, training, scheduling and supervision of Engineering team members, ensuring technical competence and opening readiness.
• Monitor contractors, service agreements, spare parts and engineering supplies while supporting utility monitoring, conservation, budgets and cost-control initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with Pan Pacific brand standards, statutory requirements, workplace safety, fire life-safety and environmental practices, and respond effectively to operational emergencies.

• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Building Services Engineering or a related technical field.
• Minimum 5 years of hotel engineering experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Strong practical knowledge of MEP, HVAC, fire life-safety, building-management systems and preventive maintenance.
• Experience in an international or luxury hotel, preferably pre-opening or project handover, with strong leadership, coordination, problem-solving, safety-management and English-language skills.
