Job Purpose

The Merchandise Manager is responsible for developing and executing category strategies to maximize sales, profitability, and customer satisfaction. The role manages supplier relationships, product assortment, pricing, promotions, inventory performance, and category development while ensuring alignment with Makro Cambodia's commercial objectives and customer needs.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITY

 1-Category Strategy & Business Planning

• Develop and implement category strategies to achieve sales, gross margin, and profitability targets.
• Analyze market trends, customer buying behavior, and competitor activities to identify business opportunities.
• Prepare annual category plans, sales forecasts, and promotional calendars.
• Monitor category performance and recommend improvement plans based on sales and financial analysis.
• Ensure product assortment aligns with Makro Cambodia's target customers and business strategy.

2-Supplier Management & Strategic Sourcing

• Identify, evaluate, negotiate, and develop strategic partnerships with local and international suppliers.
• Build long-term supplier relationships to secure competitive pricing, product quality, and reliable supply.
• Conduct supplier business reviews and performance evaluations.
• Negotiate trading terms including cost prices, rebates, promotional support, payment terms, and annual agreements.
• Visit suppliers, manufacturers, and production facilities to ensure compliance with Makro quality and food safety standards.
• Work closely with suppliers to develop exclusive products, private label opportunities, and innovative product ranges.

 3-Product Assortment & Category Development

• Develop and optimize product assortment based on customer demand, sales performance, and market trends.
• Identify new products and discontinue slow-moving or underperforming items.
• Manage new product listings, product lifecycle, and product launches.
• Coordinate with Quality Assurance, Supply Chain, Operations, MDG and Marketing to ensure successful product introduction.
• Ensure product information, specifications, and pricing are accurate within company systems.

4-Pricing & Promotional Management

• Develop competitive pricing strategies while protecting profitability.
• Monitor competitors' pricing and recommend pricing adjustments.
• Plan and execute Makro Mail promotions, seasonal campaigns, and in-store promotional activities.
• Collaborate with the Marketing team to create effective promotional campaigns that increase customer traffic and sales.
• Evaluate promotion performance and ROI, recommending improvements for future campaigns.

5-Sales & Performance Management

• Monitor sales, gross margin, inventory, and category performance against targets.
• Analyze business performance and implement corrective actions.
• Prepare commercial reports and provide recommendations to improve results.
• Drive initiatives to increase sales, profitability, and inventory efficiency.

6-Team Leadership & Store Support

• Lead, coach, and develop the merchandising team to achieve business objectives.
• Work closely with Store Operations to ensure product availability, merchandising standards, and promotional execution.
• Conduct regular store visits to identify opportunities and resolve operational issues.
• Collaborate with Supply Chain, Marketing, Finance, and other departments to support business performance.

•    Bachelor's Degree required or related work
