Job Summary

The Structural Designer is responsible for developing detailed structural designs and drawings for buildings, infrastructure, or industrial projects. This role involves working closely with engineers, architects, and project managers to create safe, efficient, and code-compliant structural solutions using CAD and BIM software.

• Produce detailed structural drawings, 3D models, and construction documents using software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Tekla, or SolidWorks.

• Interpret engineering calculations, sketches, and technical specifications to develop accurate design layouts.

• Assist structural engineers with preliminary design concepts and design optimization.

• Ensure all designs comply with relevant building codes, industry standards, and project requirements.

• Review and revise drawings based on engineering feedback and site conditions.

• Coordinate with architects, MEP designers, contractors, and fabricators to resolve design issues.

• Prepare material take-offs, reinforcement schedules, and fabrication drawings as needed.

• Maintain organized documentation and ensure timely delivery of design packages.

• Participate in design reviews, clash detection processes, and project meetings.

• Support the development and improvement of drafting standards and workflows.

Education

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering, Drafting Technology, Architecture, or a related field.

Experience

• 1–5 years of experience in structural design or drafting (depending on seniority).

• Experience with structural systems such as concrete, steel, wood, or masonry.

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in CAD/BIM tools (AutoCAD, Revit Structure, Tekla Structures, or similar).

• Understanding of structural principles, load paths, and construction materials.

• Familiarity with local building codes and standards (e.g., ACI, AISC, Eurocodes).

• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documents.

Soft Skills

• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.

• Good communication and teamwork skills.

• Ability to manage time and meet project deadlines.

• Strong organization and documentation habits.

Preferred Qualifications (Optional)

• Experience in industrial plant design, bridge design, or heavy-structure projects.

• Exposure to finite element modeling tools (STAAD, SAP2000, ETABS).

• Knowledge of fabrication or construction processes.

• Professional certifications in drafting or BIM.
