Plan and prepare weekly, unit, and lesson plans that support creative learning, progression, assessment, and individual student needs
Teach key Art and Design skills including drawing, painting, colouring, collage, printing, modelling, construction, pattern, texture, shape, form, and simple design
Support students in developing creativity, imagination, confidence, fine motor control, visual communication, observation, and self-expression
Use a variety of teaching strategies, including demonstration, guided practice, exploration, discussion, group work, independent work, and project-based learning
Create a safe, inclusive, respectful, well-organised, and creative Art and Design learning environment
Assess student learning through observation, participation, creative work, skill development, project outcomes, and student reflection
Provide constructive feedback that helps students improve their artistic skills, confidence, and creative thinking
Adapt lessons and activities to meet the needs of different learners through differentiated instruction
Use Assessment for Learning strategies to monitor progress and support student improvement
Integrate ICT and digital resources where appropriate to enhance creativity, presentation, and visual learning
Prepare, organise, and maintain art materials, displays, classroom resources, and student work
Encourage respect for materials, tools, classroom routines, and the creative work of others
Communicate professionally with students, parents, and colleagues regarding student progress, behaviour, and wellbeing
Contribute to school events, exhibitions, displays, assemblies, creative projects, and school improvement activities
Uphold the school’s commitment to safeguarding, student wellbeing, professional conduct, and academic excellence

Job Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Fine Art, Art Education, Design, Education, Visual Arts, Fine Arts, or a related field preferred
Experience teaching Art and Design in a school setting is preferred
Experience with the Cambridge curriculum is an advantage
Ability to teach drawing, painting, colouring, collage, printing, modelling, construction, simple design, and creative visual expression
Strong classroom management, organisation, lesson planning, and lesson delivery skills
Ability to use differentiated instruction, Assessment for Learning, and ICT integration in the classroom
Professional attitude, creativity, patience, flexibility, and strong communication skills
Commitment to safeguarding, student wellbeing, professional conduct, inclusion, and school improvement
