General Summary:  This position is responsible for inspection of high quality vehicles, defect data collection and analysis, including root cause investigation and countermeasures implementation, hand-in hand with assembly line Team Leader.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Check, record and report all end of line defects.
  • Provide feedback to responsible team on each single critical or repetitive significant defect detected.
  • Patrol the line, if required, to collect defect data on other vehicles (batch audit). Record patrol data.
  • Assimilate and investigate defect information as needed.
  • Assist Team Leader in defect root cause investigation and countermeasure development/implementation.
  • Continuously work with Team Leader on Kaizen activities to prevent defect recurrence.
  • Initiate or revise inspection standards as needed.

Job Requirements

Education: High school diploma or GED (General Educational Development Test) required.

Experience:

  • Experience with manufacturing processes preferred.
  • Automotive industry experience preferred.
  • Previous exposure to a multicultural office environment preferred.

Personal/Technical Skills:

  • General knowledge of Quality Standards and practical mastering of their use on production line.
  • Working knowledge of quality audit techniques.
  • Ability to understand inspection standards.
  • Basic math ability (i.e., addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
  • Understanding of conceptual math (i.e., basic geometry, charts and graphs) required.
  • General understanding and working knowledge of product design specifications, functions and quality standards of finished product as well as parts/materials used.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and understand engineering documents such as automotive drawings (component, assembly, and equipment), technical standards, design specifications, general tolerances, critical characteristics.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to perform responsibilities with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multicultural work environment.
  • Ability to maintain records and files.
  • Must be able to work a fixed or rotating shift schedule, including daily or weekend overtime.

Language Skills: Basic verbal and written communication skills in English.

Computer/Software: Solid working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office (Excel and Word).

Work Environment/Conditions:

  • Plant:  Standard automotive plant environment with moderate noise level.  PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) such as safety glasses, steel toe shoes, hearing protection, etc. are required in manufacturing and warehouse areas. Personal attire standards may apply.

Travel:    No.

Physical Demands:  

  • Sitting/standing at the inspection station for the majority of the work day
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 15 kgs and push/pull 15-30 kgs.
  • Must be able to work overtime on short notice.
