Job Description

A Good Opportunity for ..

  • Ongoing Delivery:

    • Conduct regular and effective meetings with internal and external IFRS 17 stakeholders to thoroughly understand and fulfill their requirements.
    • Provide crucial support to the Head of Reporting in finalizing key decisions regarding IFRS 17 requirements, including gap analysis, technical documentation, cash flow projections, and presentations.
    • Take ownership of Data Preparation and Validation, ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and alignment of actuarial data (e.g., cash flows, assumptions) with IFRS 17 requirements, working in collaboration with consultants. A strong understanding of the underlying data is essential for effectively assisting the project team and consultants in aligning for result preparation and computation.
    • Actively support IFRS 17 preparation and implementation efforts in close collaboration with the Finance team.
    • Facilitate the efficient sharing of data and information with designated consultants for the IFRS 17 project.
    • Assist in Model Adaptation by updating and rigorously validating cash flow models to ensure full compliance with IFRS 17, with a focus on the General Measurement Model (GMM). This includes ensuring the accurate calculation of Present Value of Cash Flows, Risk Adjustments, and the Contractual Service Margin (CSM).
    • Ensure that financial results are prepared accurately and on a timely basis according to the relevant regulatory frameworks, adhering to sound actuarial principles, and that these results are thoroughly analyzed, clearly understood, and effectively communicated.
    • Provide support for deliverables related to current actuarial reporting requirements as needed.
    • Take responsibility for supporting the comprehensive documentation of methodologies, assumptions, and model changes to ensure ongoing compliance with IFRS 17, maintaining meticulous records of all updates and adjustments made during the implementation process.
    • Actively participate in the user acceptance testing (UAT) of IFRS 17 outputs to guarantee accuracy and reliability. Provide assistance in stress testing and sensitivity analyses as required by the implementation process.
    • Contribute significantly to the preparation and validation of IFRS 17 financial reports, including the Profit & Loss statement and Balance Sheet. Perform reconciliations of IFRS 17 results with existing IFRS 4 figures and provide support in understanding variances.
    • Support the maintenance of robust controls around report production, encompassing model management, assumption setting, data input, and calculations across various actuarial tools.
    • Drive the development, enhancement, and implementation of best practices in actuarial reporting methodology.
    • Support the performance of sensitivity analysis on key financial metrics.
    • Provide support for actuarial-related financial assessments as required by Management.
  • Developing Capabilities:

    • Play a key role in developing and implementing the IFRS 17 framework by thoroughly understanding the gaps between current methodologies/reporting and the new IFRS 17 requirements.
  • Collaboration:

    • Collaborate effectively with colleagues across various departments, including Finance, Operations, Expense Management, Sales and Distribution, Marketing, and Capital and Solvency Management, to cultivate and share a deeper understanding of the drivers of financial performance.
    • Proactively share knowledge and insights with colleagues across functions to enhance overall capabilities within the organization.
    • Manage communication with stakeholders at the Group office in a timely, professional, and effective manner.
    • Support the management of relationships with regulatory bodies as required under the Company’s regulatory relationship management process.

Job Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in an actuarial role. Exceptional candidates with slightly less experience who can demonstrate outstanding logical and critical thinking abilities will also be considered.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or Mathematics.
  • Proven experience within life insurance finance, accounting, and actuarial functions is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated progress in actuarial examinations, with the successful completion of several exams being desirable.
  • Exceptional conceptual, analytical, and logical thinking skills, complemented by strong financial acumen.
  • High proficiency in executing tasks using MS Office applications, particularly with large and complex datasets.
  • A proactive and self-driven attitude coupled with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Prior experience with the PROPHET actuarial modeling software is considered a significant advantage.
