Position Purpose

 

The Operations Manager oversees the daily operational functions of Herrington International School, including facilities, safety, compliance, and support services. The role ensures a safe, efficient, and compliant school environment that supports teaching, learning, and all school activities.

 

Job Goals

 

A. Facilities, Safety & Infrastructure

  • Oversee school facilities, renovations, maintenance, and ensure compliance with safety, health, and construction regulations.
  • Implement and monitor safety policies related to weather emergencies, security threats, food safety, and crisis management.
  • Ensure secure daily opening and closing of school buildings.
  • Coordinate utilities (water, electricity, internet) to ensure uninterrupted services.
  • Develop and implement annual and multi-year maintenance plans.

B. Operational Risk & Compliance

  • Monitor and control the operations budget allocated to the school campus.
  • Ensure regular maintenance of buildings, grounds, furniture, and equipment.
  • Coordinate internal, external, and government audits in collaboration with leadership teams.
  • Manage and monitor third-party service providers (maintenance, security, cleaning, transportation) and contract renewals.
  • Act as the lead for operational and logistical planning for new campus setup, renovations, or expansion projects.

C. Staff Management & Accountability

  • Manage and supervise operational teams including maintenance, security, transportation, cleaning, and landscaping staff.
  • Coordinate with HR on job descriptions, recruitment, attendance, discipline, performance, and payroll inputs.
  • Ensure staff scheduling, training, grooming, hygiene, and service standards are consistently followed.

D. Financial & Administrative Control

  • Manage purchasing requests, operational costs, and budget utilization.
  • Ensure invoices, financial documents, and operational reports are submitted accurately and on time to Finance.
  • Prepare operational reports, performance summaries, risk assessments, and improvement action plans.

E. Communication & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Act as a liaison between operations, academic teams, and school leadership.
  • Maintain professional working relationships with staff, parents, vendors, and service providers.
  • Participate in annual operational and capital budget planning.
  • Support school-wide activities, events, and initiatives through strong operational coordination.

F. Other Duties

  • Carry out other tasks as assigned by management when required.

Reporting Line

 

The School Operations Manager reports directly to the Deputy CEO / CEO.

 

Additional Duties

 

This job description outlines the core responsibilities of the position. The post holder may be required to perform additional duties reasonably assigned by school management in support of the school’s mission and development.

  •  Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related field
  • 5+ years in operations, administration, or school management
  •  Experience in an international school or education setting is highly valued
  • Background in managing facilities, vendors, or school services (transport, cafeteria, janitor, security, etc.)
