We are seeking a committed, compassionate, and experienced Special Educator to join our dedicated team at SKDS. This role involves working with children who have a wide range of developmental and learning challenges, including but not limited to Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, ADHD, Global Developmental Delay, Intellectual Disabilities, and Specific Learning Disorders such as Dyslexia.
The Special Educator will design and implement individualized learning and therapy-based programs focused on functional academics, life skills, pre-vocational/vocational training, communication, and social-emotional development. The ideal candidate should be passionate about working in a non- inclusive, fully special education setting and experienced in tailoring teaching strategies to meet diverse learner profiles.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's abilities and needs
• Plan and deliver lessons focused on life skills, communication, functional academics, and vocational readiness
• Use specialized teaching strategies and resources, including structured teaching, visual aids, sensory tools, and assistive technology
• Support students with a variety of conditions including Autism, ADHD, Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, Global Developmental Delay, and Dyslexia
• Promote independence in self-care, daily living skills, and classroom routines
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress, behavior, and learning goals
• Collaborate with therapists, coordinators, and support staff to ensure an integrated approach to student development
• Communicate regularly with families to update them on student progress and provide guidance for home reinforcement
• Participate in team meetings, case discussions, and professional development sessions
