The Accounting Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily accounting operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting. The role involves supervising staff in both accounts payable and accounts receivable, managing tax obligations, and supporting the Finance Manager. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Tax Compliance
    • Take charge of monthly tax preparation, filing, and payment to ensure compliance with local regulations and deadlines.
    • Monitor changes in tax laws and provide timely updates to management.
  2. Accounts Payable Supervision
    • Supervise and guide the accounts payable team to ensure timely and accurate recording of supplier invoices and payments.
    • Review and approve payment vouchers and supplier reconciliations.
    • Ensure adherence to company policies and internal controls.
  3. Accounts Receivable Supervision
    • Oversee the accounts receivable team to ensure accurate and timely billing, collection, and recording of customer payments.
    • Monitor outstanding balances and follow up on overdue accounts.
    • Prepare customer account reconciliations when necessary.
  4. Accounting System (NAV) Review & Reconciliation
  • Review and reconcile transactions recorded in NAV to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Perform periodic reconciliations of key accounts (banks, suppliers, customers, and intercompany balances).
  • Ensure data integrity and proper posting within NAV.
  1. Monthly Financial Reporting
    • Prepare financial reports and submit to management.
    • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with accounting standards.
    • Highlight key variances or issues to the Finance Manager.
  2. Support to Finance Manager
    • Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Finance Manager.
    • Assist in audits, budgeting, and other finance-related projects as required.

    Key Challenges of the Accounting Supervisor Role:

    • Managing tight deadlines for monthly closing, tax submissions, and financial reporting while maintaining accuracy.
    • Identifying and resolving discrepancies during NAV system reconciliations to ensure data integrity.
    • Supervising accounts payable and receivable staff to maintain efficiency and high performance under heavy workloads.
    • Balancing multiple priorities such as tax, reconciliations, reporting, and staff management.
    • Preparing for and supporting internal and external audits by ensuring proper documentation and internal control compliance.
