Job Description

A Good Opportunity for ..

  • Responsible for assisting the Butchery Manager in managing the department in terms of achieving sales & profit to budget targets and above, controlling stock level, minimising shrinkage and operation costs, maintaining and improving stock display/presentation, providing high standards of customer service, cutting and preparing meat to customer specifications, and ensuring high productivity of staff in the department. Duty of care with company assets
  • Assists in preparing the daily ordering (DC & direct supply) and recommends adjustments or cancellation for the approval of the Fresh Manager; plans Makro Mail stock in advance
  • Monitors to ensure high standard of receiving and display of quality product (indication of freshness - smell, color), including appearance and proper FIFO rotation of related floor stock; takes action regarding mutation trimming of products management (e.g. pork shoulder to pork mince).
  • Ensures compliance to FIFO method through systematic stocking of reserved stocks in the storage area
  • Ensures the deliveries by supplier are on time, as well as proper quality and specification of product delivered
  • Checks the adequacy of inventory through perpetual/ quarterly random inventory count to ensure that the standard level is available to meet projected sales and avoid over stock & stock shortages
  • Pays attention to customers’ needs ensuring high levels of customer service; creates customer satisfaction by building relationships, paying attention to all inquiries, complaints, and recommendations from customers; teach staff to make eye contact and greet customers or accompany customer to the specific location of an item they are searching for
  • Ensures full compliance with dress and uniform regulations, including GMP requirements and safety protection wear
  • Maintains cleanliness of stock, shelves and working area (housekeeping) at GMP certification requirements level and monitors PCS support and manpower;
    • Ensures preparation room, trays, multi racks are clean (follow cleaning schedule and etc.)
    • Ensures a spill is never left unattended
  • Maintains high standards of stock presentation and display;
    • Replenishes stock; ensures Makro Mail, KVI, Top Sellers, and Gap check items are given priority
    • Follows and teaches the 6 Rights +1 merchandising philosophy (the Right Merchandise, in the Right Place, at the Right Time, at the Right Price, in the Right Quantity, in the Right Condition, with the Right Service)
    • Reviews and re-arranges stock presentation periodically (color and product type), while organizing top selling and slow movement/non-movement products accordingly
    • Works with Section Manager on layout/plan-o-gram/space allocation (seasonal planning)
    • Monitors and ensures signage & railcards are correct and up to date; regularly scans the railcards, price tickets, supplier bar code, signage, to ensure the correct information is printed and put up timely
    • Checks product specification as set by Commercial department
  • Controls disposal and clearance of articles;
    • Monitors action regarding disposal/repackaging/clearance
    • Records stock for clearance/disposal
    • In absence of Section Manager/ AGSM, prepares documentation (stock level changes form) and obtains Store General Manager’s (SGM) approval
  • Maintains and manages shrinkage to budgeted targets and below;
    • Monitors and minimizes shrinkage by instructing staff in department how to properly handle merchandise and recommending strategies such as article transformations or markdowns for the approval of the Fresh Manager
    • Proposes and allocates stocks in “low risk” areas
    • Is aware of potential fraud with regard to staff, customer, supplier
    • Discusses with Section Manager  plan for scheduled stock take
    • Verifies the process of stock counting to ensure procedure is followed
    • Consistently checking and following up with staff on the accuracy of the counting and recording
  • To assist in conducting and coordinating stock take activities;
    • Ensures preparation is completed before the stock take day
    • Ensures articles, bays, aisles are located as ALC plan
    • Locates and arranges for articles to be placed on the registered aisle/bay
    • Ensures pre-count articles are counted accurately on stock take day 
    • Ensures ALC keys the quantity counted into system
    • Checks variance reports and does third count sheet the next day – works closely with Section Manager & ALC department
  • Operation and maintaining of machinery/equipment;
    • Ensures the department equipment is used properly, maintained according to manufactures guidelines and is in good working condition
    • Coordinates with ALC & GA Department on cleaning, maintenance, or repair of equipment or tools
    • Ensures safety & security procedures are practiced and complied with, including administrative policies (checklist)
    • Monitors and orders through ALC ADMIN adequate packaging labels, etc
  • Carry out any other duties assigned by the Section Manager, Fresh Manager, ASGM, SGM, or Duty Manager

  • Expertise in meat cutting, processing, and packaging techniques.
  • Knowledge of meat grading, storage, and safety standards
  • Physical demands: Standing for long hours, lifting heavy cuts of meat
  • Work environment: Cold storage areas, exposure to sharp tools and machinery
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and leadership abilities.
