Lead, mentor, and develop a team of database engineers to ensure high performance, technical excellence, and continuous skill development
Define and execute the database technology roadmap aligned with organizational and digital transformation strategies
Establish database engineering standards, best practices, and governance frameworks across on-premises and cloud environments
Provide technical leadership in designing scalable, secure, and high-availability database architectures for enterprise systems
Oversee day-to-day operations of all database platforms (Oracle, MS SQL, PostgreSQL, cloud databases) ensuring reliability, availability, and performance
Ensure effective capacity planning for future growth in data volume, storage, compute, and system scalability
Direct patching, upgrades, and version lifecycle management across all database environments
Ensure robust monitoring, alerting, tuning, and troubleshooting processes to proactively minimize risks and service disruptions
Work closely with IT Security, Audit, and Compliance teams to ensure that database configurations meet regulatory, audit, and security hardening requirements
Own database-related responses to IVA, Internal Audit, and External Audit, including evidence submission and mitigation planning
Define and enforce backup, restore, disaster recovery, and archiving policies ensuring compliance with RPO and RTO targets
Partner with Application, Development, Project, Infrastructure, and Business teams to support new initiatives, performance improvements, and system integrations
Participate in project planning, solution design, and change advisory processes to ensure database considerations are properly addressed
Communicate effectively with senior management regarding risk, capacity, performance, and major incidents
Promote automation across provisioning, deployment, monitoring, backup, and maintenance tasks to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual effort
Drive modernization initiatives such as database refactoring, migration to managed services, or platform consolidation
Maintain comprehensive documentation covering architecture, standards, operating procedures, and knowledge base resources

Job Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent
Professional certifications such as Oracle OCP, MS-SQL, PostgreSQL, or cloud certifications are preferred
5+ years of hands-on experience in Database Administration, with 2+ years in a supervisory or leadership capacity
Strong knowledge of database architecture, performance tuning, security configurations, high availability and DR design
Solid experience in patching, upgrades, hardening, and lifecycle management
Good knowledge of database scripting and automation (Shell, PowerShell, Python is a plus)
Experience with cloud-based databases and migration to cloud services is highly advantageous
Strong understanding of ITIL processes (incident, problem, change)
Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels
Strong leadership, analytical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities
